We had a car and all the valet guys were fantastic. They have free in and out privileges which is very nice...and unusual. There is a laundry room in basement which was also very handy. You need 4 dollars total which the front desk can give you. Soap is already provided for each machine.
The only ice machine is in the basement which for the 500 a night we were spending seemed inconvenient. The mini bar is packed like a vending machine so you cannot chill anything of your own. The restaurant bar is basic and unappealing. There is free wifi in the nice open lobby but you can't bring a glass of wine out there.so hanging out is really not possible. Our room was very small for the price.
Our main reason for returning to this hotel is not for the location as it was a little far from times for shopping but as our stays in New York have always been pleasant, relaxing and comfortable at the Marriott Upper East side we could not come to New York without staying there again. This is our 3rd time to New York from Australia and 3rd time staying there. The staff are exceptional , they help in any way possible. They are more than just friendly, they make you feel more than welcome and even printed maps for us to find different stores that we could find following the map rather than our memory. The pool is my favourite with the warm spa and cool pool definately refreshed and revived me just wish we could of stayed longer. A special mention to Matt who helped us out big time with directions, how to get to and from everywhere, he was so so helpful and made us feel so welcome, my husband even hugged him to say thankyou.I Sprain my ankle and without even asking ice appeared and is there anything else we can do for you xxx thankyou for a wonderful stay I would highly recommended this hotel to everyone coming to New York
It didn't affect us this time as we stayed on the weekend, however previous times we were disappointed that the spa / pool wasn't open longer hours during the week so we couldn't use it to relax after our long flights and long days shopping. Maybe other people would appreciate this too if they have kids with them so they can use the pool more hours, just a thought as that's one of the main reasons we booked it the first time was because it had a pool/spa and alot don't in new york
No bar, restaurant or mini bar! Tub blocked....had to call for assistance at 10 pm to shut off tv! Definitly not worth $229
The rooms are clean, large and well maintained.
Incredibly, such an international hotel does'nt accept in payment travellers cheques of AMERICAN Express and demand payment by credit card which costs a 2,8 % extra charge for the customer! Travellers cheques are, after being contersigned, the same as bank notes. For that reason I will never more choose a Mariott establishment.
One pack of coffee for. Two people called desk and room service no answer went to bottom floor for coffee machine not working . Very poor for 250 per nite
There was no refrigerator in room and the wifi did not work for my son computer....everything it was supposes to of had it did not...unsatisfied very much
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I liked the location and it was very easy to find parking. The facilities were very nice and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely go back.
efficient staff, calm hotel, friendly and secure neighbourhood
- the room was equipped with two beds as booked, however it looked like the second bed was added to a normal double room. So the room was somewhat crowded and movement was restricted. - no shuttle to subway
Specious room and friendly staff.
Location was a little bit far from Times Square. (Around 20 minutes by tax)
Night light on closet- could not find switch to turn off. I had to dismantel to get to sleep. Also night light on clock radio - too bright. No night light in bathroom where it is needed.
Rooms were clean
Hot tub didnt work, steam room was nasty. Hotel resturant was expensive.
Room was excellent, Location is next to a fantastic market with great prices, that is open 24/7.
Hot Tub was Out of service for trip, slightly annoying.
The gym, sauna, pool
The staf is very very bad
This place was perfectly priced for us (6 friends travelling for New Year), worked out cheaper then the hostels we were looking at. The staff were excellent, very friendly and professional, my friends made good use of the facilities like the gym with no worries. The location was fine for us, short walk to central park and then into town, but for those less inclined to walk there are heaps of buses and the subway is close by. Nice area, lots of little cafe's near by, did not feel threatened walking about the area at night.
The free computers with internet in the lobby are quite slow, but free so I didn't really mind :)
Very clean and comfortable. Room was quiet and temperature controls were good. Seems to be recently remodelled or refurbished. Nice atmosphere.
Location while quiet and in a nice residential area, is too far from the nearest subway stop to be convenient. LOTS of walking.
